Description:
The city of Lake Oswego, as the name implies, partly surrounds a large lake. There are beautiful settings with lakefront properties and majestic hilltop locations with views of the city and the Willamette river. The city is known for its exceptional schools. More than 80% of the high school students attend college. The Lake Oswego School District operates two high schools, two junior high schools and nine elementary schools.
The city is supported by a
strong resident involvement in civic and
community affairs. Many great restaurants, quaint bistros and coffee
shops
are located here. The downtown area has recently undergone extensive
renovation and beautification, leading to increased shopping and dining
opportunities.
The city is interconnected by bike, hiking, and walking trails and there are many open parks for the citizens. Lake Oswego is home to many of the most prestigious estates in the metro area, but older, smaller homes can be found as well.
Lake Oswego was recently
named as the most
desireable area to
live in the Portland
metropolitan area,
in a
study
conducted by KATU-TV. The
study
gave Lake Oswego high ratings in education,
quality of life, and low crime. Due to its popularity, home prices in
Lake
Oswego tend to be higher than the rest of the Portland area. The median
home
price for the area is in the $360,000 range.
